Using Real Estate Forms To Buy Homes Back In The Day – ranches

There has been over the years an ongoing love affair with the iconic American ranches style home. This began right after World War ll, when many servicemen came back from the war needing affordable housing.

The home that was easy to build, and which provided a stable, secure, and reliable dwelling was the ranches style home, which depending on the region of the country, is given different names. The ranches style home served a tremendous need. These servicemen were not looking to rent, and therefore they did not have a need to fill out lease forms. What they filled out were real estate forms for purchasing a home, since that is what they wanted. After fighting a horrible war, they wanted a piece of real estate that they could call their own.

There were fewer forms to complete for buying a home in those days, and the process was much simpler. What these servicemen received was a home typically rectangular in shape, but sometimes rectangular with a garage addition making a 90 degree angle home, or sometimes a U-shape home. The structure was built with local materials, and in many communities that meant brick. Brick in those early days of ranches home construction was plentiful, and sold at a much lower price. The ranches home had a low pitch gable roof, and the structure sat horizontally close to the earth. It typically fit in harmoniously with the local surroundings, and had an open floor plan inside, with an ordered, and predictable arrangement of rooms, and design.

The ranches home was a well-formed, strong, structure that provided ample space for the serviceman’s growing family. Later, beginning in the late 60′s, the ranches home evolved into a raised-ranches structure, or what is often called, a tri-level home, with the one section partly under the main floor, and an upper section on one part of the dwelling above the middle level. It provided for more space. What was unique about most of all the ranches home styles was the garage that was part of the home, for the first time in architecture. The garage became a natural fixation on a ranches home.

Not only were these service men looking for a place to live, with the modern comforts of the time, along with affordability, but also, they were needing automobile transportation, and a place to park their cars. The era of the automobile really took off after WWll. Today, many people still are looking for a ranches style home that they can see themselves living in. They are attracted to the typical and predictable ranches home features: attached garage, low-lying structure with easy access to the roof, a fireplace, patio, or deck, spacious back yard, open floor plan, built-in shelves, and a strong, stable foundation.
